The building itself is gorgeous and an outstanding example of the Bauhaus in Dessau. The ground floor houses and exhibition and there are some modern art pieces on the second floor but besides that the building is quite empty. Nevertheless, the videos on the history of Bauhaus are quite informative. Also, the biggest gift shop for Bauhaus.

The building itself is a masterpiece many have written about already. The restoration is attentive to all details and carefully seeks to show the best of this modernist landmark. And I suppose these are the most important features for those visiting this place, so if you’re and architectural enthusiast go for it without second thoughts. We purchased the “Gesamt-Ticket”, which included access to the Masters’ houses and the Bauhaus Museum downtown. It was well worth it. Access to the school building is easy and straight forward. There is plenty of parking around, even if you don’t have a “Parkschein” (just go for the back streets). The visit is as long as you wish to admire the building. The exhibits are quite pale and lose most of their attractiveness in comparison to the architecture. It is a shame that the director’s offices and other rooms are only available in the guided tour. This tour is only offered in German, so I’d say it is both a marketing error as lack of effort. These are the grounds for the lacking star. Besides these complaints, I thank the Bauhaus Stiftung for doing what is most important: restoring the building.

The Bauhaus Museum Dessau is a museum dedicated to the Bauhaus design movement located in Dessau, Germany. The museum's collection of 49,000 is the second-largest collection of Bauhaus-related objects in the world. Opened in 2019, it is operated by the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation. The museum's building was designed by the Spanish architecture firm Addenda Architects. Its lower atrium floor houses temporary exhibitions, while the upper floor is devoted to the permanent collection.
