Beautiful location, rooms, location, architecture, and landscaping. Awful service, I would have rated the service as poor if it was a 3 star hotel, and they claim to be the top luxury resort in Australia! There were multiple issues across our stay and we never received anything more than a cursory "sorry". Not only that but we stayed in multiple indoor/outdoor rooms in northern Queensland (one for less than 1/4 of the price per night of Hayman), and this was the only one that had cobwebs and bugs in the room. Spend your money elsewhere.

Our stay at Hayman Island was largely delightful, thanks to the outstanding staff. Courtney's efficiency during check-in and Emma's warm welcome tour set a positive tone from the start. Kudos to Winnie for her attentiveness at the pool, ensuring a serene experience while keeping seagulls at bay. Special mention to Georgina at the Pacific restaurant Georgina stood out with her excellent service, always helpful, cheerful, and incredibly attentive to guests. While the service was top-notch, I found room for improvement in the food options considering the resort's 5-star status (we tried all 4 restaurants). Additionally, our room had broken blinds that won’t reopen and what looked like an indelible stain on the countertop. Despite these minor setbacks, the exceptional service from the staff and the beautiful island made our overall experience enjoyable.

The only reason this property is not a 1 star is the location and island itself. Beautiful area. Otherwise, this is an average hotel trying to brand itself as a 5 star property. If you expect the quality of service, attention to detail, staff expertise / professional training (they are all very nice), and uniqueness you would get at a Four Seasons / Ritz / Rosewood, you will be sorely mistaken. Very commercialized experience. Rooms need to be renovated as well. Food is typical resort food.

Day 1 arrival at airport we were told that another plane has been delayed so we would have to wait 2 hours for transfer to Hayman so we lost half our day. We had high expectations for the resort as it is $$. Service was below par. Waited for room to be cleaned usually after 4pm. Only on arrival are the staff pleasant. At breakfast it’s hard to get a smile. The food is below average for what you pay. On our last day I had booked later flight so we would get most out of our day only to be told we were leaving early and would have to wait at airport 4 hours because they couldn’t guarantee a later transfer would make our plane. Got to airport and was turned away from Hayman lounge as it’s only for incoming flights. This added salt to the wound!! So if you are booking get a later flight on arrival and an earlier flight on departure. And don’t have high expectations.

Possibly the most beautiful island in Queensland. We had the most wonderful time in Hayman island! Starting with the boat transfer, it was seamless as we waited about 20 minutes for our boat, after landing at Hamilton airport. We waited at the Intercontinental lounge then were greeted with champagne and nibbles on the luxury boat. The check in process starts on the boat, which I thought was really efficient as this allowed us to be greeted with a golf buggy and a tour of the resort straight away (which is so needed because this resort was huge!). Then we arrived in our room, we had chilled champagne waiting for us. The arrival process left a great impression to the start of our holiday. If you can bear the 3km hike, I would highly highly recommend the blue pearl bay hike. The snorkelling gear was complimentary from the activities lounge. I would also recommend checking the tide times and weather with them the day before (if you’re unsure). The views on this hike were breath taking at every angle, we forgot how hot/ tired we were from the hike. We did get stung by jellyfish, but we didn’t mind because there were so many fish and coral to look at and good thing we had a big bath tub in our room to sit in for a while! We also walked along the beach at low tide and spotted turtles, sting rays and baby sharks, there’s lots and lots of sea-life to spot! Nigel the turtle usually hangs around the beach in-front of the Pacific restaurant where breakfast happens and we spotted him a couple of times at breakfast. The kayak/ paddle boards are free to hire at the beach and the team are lovely there. We also highly recommend the fish feeding activity (also complimentary) with Tom because the giant trevallies at the marina are so cool to look at! We did originally have a fishing tour booked that got sadly cancelled due to high winds. I do wish they sent me an email explaining or a call to advise me that it was cancelled and given some empathy/ suggestions for alternative activities to do, as it was a 3 lined automated text that got sent…I was so looking forward to it and was slightly upset because I planned all our activities around the fishing charter. I also highly recommend the breakfast buffet and everything there is delicious, my favourite was the homemade frangipani tart. The seafood buffet is also a must!! I find usually in buffets, they lack in the quality, but the quality of the lobster, bugs and oysters were 10/10! One thing I felt was that during service (at all the restaurants), there was no structure/ management to the restaurants and everyone was left to their own devices. The staff are lovely, but I felt things were disorganised. Perhaps it was due to the resort being on an island and understaffed? Things just took a while, like the ice bucket which took an hour, the coffee at breakfast usually took 20mins and the cocktails by the pool took 40mins. But we were enjoying things enough that it didn’t bother us in the grand scheme of things. Having been on the island, I do understand the charges that come with this place. The grounds are kept immaculate, from the perfectly mowed lawn near the beach, all the plants around the island and the palm trees, it would take so much effort to maintain the grounds and gardens alone! I highly recommend this place if you’re wanting to put your feet up and enjoy the view and not worry about a thing!
