Castle of Rozafa is one of the most well known castles in Albania. The folklore tales of the mother that sacrificed her body to make the castle walls stand is astonishing. The castle area is very big and the ruins give you an amazing view from each angle. It's a must see. The climb is a bit hard but so so worth it. The fact that these castles are up on mountains and hills is so beautiful. Must see!

Arrange a guide if you want to know the history behind as information labels don't offer much. Plan to go early morning (opens at 9am) as it can get really hot there.

Nice view of the city. However it is hard to make out what the place used to the or the importance it had over the centuries, as there is barely any information on its past! You see a lot of ruins but no explanation of what it used to be. Still probably a must see place in an otherwise not-so-interesting Shkodër.

There are very nice views from there. The castle as such is okay - nothing special. There’s 200lek entrance fee. If you go in the evening, take a couple of drinks with you as it gets a bit romantic towards the end of the day.

The castle is in a decent state and has information in English at several points. The views are rather good, especially at sunset. Closing times might just be a suggestion, as we got in half an hour after official closing time. Oh.. and beware of the spiders.
