This is an awesome bar. First of all, the atmosphere and decor is beautiful and unique. It blows my mind that the bar hasn’t been majorly renovated. Unfortunately, the bar is cash only; however, they have an ATM just inside the entrance that makes it easy if you forget cash. Fair prices for drinks and good selection. When I’ve been there the jazz musicians they’ve had have been fantastic. However, probably my favorite part about this place is the staff and the owner. They actively call out people who are obnoxious or talk over the band. The owner has also personally acted on behalf to help me with a guy who was getting too intense flirting with me. I’ve never had bar staff look out for me like that and feel completely comfortable spending my time here. I 100% recommend and will be back.

How cool is it that we have the opportunity to visit this historical landmark where they still play delicious jazz music every week?! Cover charge was very reasonable to be able to see the incredible musicians of Soul Message. All of the seating had views of the behind-the-bar band setup. The staff were nice and you could tell they were music lovers that enjoyed their job. My only complaint is from the few rude customers that were loudly talking over the band and didn’t seem like they cared for the music. If you come to this place, please respect the ambiance and learn how to read the room (for example, tone it down when the band is playing softly so everyone can enjoy it). The staff were pretty good at asking people to quiet down when it got too loud but it’s a shame they have to deal with that and the bad reviews from people that were obviously the miscreants. Overall this was an unforgettable experience and I was thrilled that we got in (even if we had to go late on a Sunday). If you are a lover of jazz or history, you will enjoy this place.

I went to the green mill and an awesome group showed. It was amazing! Great cold drinks and beers, only cash but super friendly. There was a line to enter the place because it was an important show night but I really enjoyed it!

Great spot for live music. Like stepping into a time capsule to the Speak-easy 20's era! Not a great place for mixing it up and socializing. When music is playing absolutely no talking!

The Green Mill is a famous jazz club and other music venue & bar and a anchor of Uptown, Chicago history. Great music, great drinks. Get there early and grab a booth, you’ll be transported in time! One can envision Al Capone using the trap door behind the bar area floor that leads all the way across Broadway. Used for smuggling booze during the prohibition days most likely. No need for that anymore as you can order a classy beverage legally now while listening to some great live music!
