Descend a long flight of steps to reach an unpaved road to the site. Interesting to see the remaining foundation left after the fire in 1966. Don't miss the tide pool on the far right that was used to gather the ocean water. Would be cool to see a schematic on how the pools were filled and emptied; I didn't see much history on that, but with covid closures, maybe I missed that. The three portable bathrooms were unusable on a Sunday after a long weekend.
Be careful on the trails. Some are steep with a lot of loose gravel. It is,easy to lose your footing. My daughter slipped on a steep part with a,lot of loose gravel. She broke her angle. Fortunately a kind young man on a dirt bike helped us,get her back up the trail to our car. I will go back there again to see the ruins up close, if I ever go back to SF.
Great for sunset kisses
The views were decent and the trails well-maintained, but it's hard to enjoy a place like this with the obnoxious graffiti, vandalism, and trash throughout the park.
So cool. I have never seen anything like this on earth before. Haven't found a single photo on the internet that resembles this type of aesthetic. Very unique place.
