The artist who made this was Daniel Johnston who lived 1961-2019. It was a symbol of happiness and hope for all the Austinites and continues to be so. If you visit Austin, it is definitely worth the photo-OP
Local landmark for a great selfie to document your visit to Austin. Getting to the mural can be difficult though since it's on a busy intersection with no parking. I reccomend you park on the next block over and walk to the mural.

Got a pic after visiting the museum, nothing else to do in the area afterwards.
