Great food and fun place. It's more of a Fusion restaurant than a true Japanese restaurant. There's also a small section of Japanese pre packaged snacks and sweets. Food was very delicious. The biggest surprise for us was the beet fries- amazing! We also ordered the pork buns, dumplings, chicken karage. All were delicious. The dining area was fun.
Was it the best wonton I've ever had including the 12 years I've lived in Asia? No of course not. But was it the worst wonton ever? Actually yes. The wrapping to filing ratio was like 10:1 and the filing had no bite. It was mushy like mashed potato. The wrapping was over boiled. It would have been better to actually serve fries and just dump the herbs and spices on top of it. It'll pass as gourmet here in Austin The pork belly bowl was not as bad. Way better than Loro's but that's not saying much. The flavors here complement and not clash, but I feel like it was more due to luck than actually understanding Asian cuisine.. because if they did, they would have at least cut the pork belly into smaller pieces
It’s not good. Weird breading, inedible beet fries, way to much sauce pork buns, meh chicken. I feel bad for the girl at the register, dealing with the mediocre food coming out of that dead kitchen. They don’t care and it really shows. Over priced trailer food that was better at the trailer.
So sorry for what happened to this place , used to love it , but now they do less food , more expensive , I payed 16 dollars for a por belly meshi and no joke it had less that 3 spoons of rice and they charged me extra mor Mayo , a lot of options are sold out (always) and service not good either . Also they started using all plastic when they used boxes before .
Been enjoying ESK for ages. Literally everything on the menu is a must try. Recommend a bento for your first visit to try a few items and not be overwhelmed.
