Fantastic! Had an amazing time at this museum. The Degas exhibit was beautiful. Definitely get the narrative as it is recorded in an interesting and engaging way. Stories of his life are told through the interaction of Degas and his niece. Besides the Degas exhibit there was the Stampede exhibit which explored animals in art. These peices were some of the most compelling and thought provoking art exhibits I have ever seen. Really unusual. Spent hours in this museum and came out truly impressed.
I’ve now been here twice and generally, really loved it. They have two temporary exhibits right now: Rockwell is one and a Homer and Remington exhibit is the other. Both are incredible. However, the rest of the museum is a bit too contemporary for my taste. I’ve tried to engage with the content but some just seems absurdist more than artistic. That said, I won’t judge others taste in art. Just saying know what you’re getting into. The building itself is gorgeous and the staff is always super friendly.
The very design of the museum makes a very positive impression, and you simply want to go there and see all the expositions! Very interesting experience and extremely intriguing work. Also, it is located right in the central park, so after it, you can still walk around with pleasure. I think I will visit this place more than once!
It has a decent permanent collection but the visiting collections of the last few years have been what makes the museum truly great. The cost is a little pricey since there are so many Free Places to go in Denver but, is worth going if the rotating collection is great since the permanent collection is just a bonus. If you are in from out of town there are other places in the city that you couldn’t experience anywhere else in the country.
