I went to the illuminated abbey. It was so atmospheric. Pity it was raining. There was fish and chips and other food options on offer and also both hot drinks and a bar. For a pound you could toast a marshmallow. After 6 pm the car park is free and I think it is totally free off season after 31st October. Best take a light. You have to walk over some grass in the dark - think that should be reviewed as it was terribly muddy and waterlogged. If it rains we need sheltered spots too. Entertainment was good and kid friendly so it was good value altogether. Next time I think I'd book closer to the time or pay on the door as the weather was so bad. The laser effects are not to be missed.

A great attraction in a really lovely town. I would give 5 stars but thought £10 was a bit much to get close the ruins as you can see quite a lot just peering over the wall. However I would probably do it again.

Just simply an awesome place. Worth the steps. Every time. Great views of Whitby town and the coast. However this visit my sister was not overly impressed and felt that the admission charge was way too high for what was there. I mean, you wouldn't spend a day out at the abbey itself as the ruins really aren't very substantial, only covering a very small area. But it is much loved, very popular and a must do, I guess, because of its history and connection. The shop is very expensive. Some of the products on sale were just silly prices. I didn't hear much till pinging going on, but I did see a lot of folk looking at price tags and placing items back on shelves with eyebrows floating above their hairlines - mine included. 😳 Am glad as a member I hadn't had to pay, as, like my sister, I would have been very disappointed.

What a beautiful place this is. Absolutely love it here. I have been coming to Whitby for over 20 years I never have and never will get tired of seeing the Abbey. Stunning. The atmosphere here is electric. If you love history and old architecture then it's a must. The fact that it's set on the cliff tops surrounded by stunning scenery is just a massive bonus. The great thing about this place is its accessibility. The car park is right next to the Abbey. The car park has toilets and disabled access. I highly recommend a visit to the Abbey. I come here several times per year as I'm a coach driver.

Had a great time here. Such a shame that time and tide have ravished it so much. Still lots of history to see though. Tea room was nice. Worth visiting.
