Praça 1º de Maio 4, 7000-650 Évora, Portugal
Impressive but not really worth the steep entrance fee of 5 euros. The chapel is literally just the one room. Interesting to look at but if you have seen the ones in Prague or other places, you can probably skip. The ancillary exhibitions that are included were also only mildly interesting. The rooftop deck is nice but baking hot with no shade or bar, a wasted opportunity in my opinion. You’re probably better off looking at the pictures and spending more time in the church which is free.
This place was very amazing. We went here expecting just a bone museum/chapel. Boy were we wrong. There is several amazing old religious items in this museum, all with great stories. Our favourite thing about this museum was simply the museum of nativity scenes. Basically hundreds of epic nativity scenes, from any country you could think of. Very cool place. 5/5.
This chapel is a nice place to visit in Evora. The entry costs aren't a lot, and you can visit other things in the same building with that entry fee. The chapel itself isn't big, but it is worth visiting. I recommend going here together with a visit of the nearby church as a visit won't take long.
Macabre, in a way, but also impressive. Disrespectful of those disinterred without specific permission for the purposes of making a fearful message. Typically hypocritical.... Nicely laid out, good lighting, easy to walk to from anywhere if staying in the old town. The information in the bone chapel needs more substance. The two mummies are unexplained.
Cool place to see. Only 5 euros entry for the bone chapel plus a small museum and a nativity scene exhibition. Well worth the visit if you are in the area. A bit creepy to see all the bones around a golden altar. Also not a bad view of the town from the rooftop of the museum. Lots of parking about 5 min walk away, through a park with a small cafe and a few peacocks in the garden.
