Old Bagan, Myanmar (Burma)
One of the big pagodas at Bagan. Superb architecture, and layout. You have to park or get dropped off at the gate, about 100 m walk then to the pagoda. Some shops around for water and souvenirs, and ice cream. The pagoda needs a bit of renovation - the guide told us they paint it after monsoon, so October onward it would look great. We went in July, when it looked possibly the most run-down.
It is the highest pagoda in town so it's worth visiting. The place is wearing slowly after the earthquake a few years ago (numerous cracks inside) so, you better check the place before it vanishes in the future.
This is one of the first two storey structures built in Bagan around 1144. It's an impressive site towering at over 60m above the plains. A photogenic temple when the light is right.
Make sure you don’t miss this one. It’s more impressive on the outside than inside, it looks like it’s closed since 3 of the main entrances are locked with bars but you can still get inside and go all the the way around.
Very wonderful.very big, high and huge Pagoda.
