One special museum - probably among many. Somewhat difficult to reach. Google Maps lead us through the Medina with no problems. The depth of pieces dating to the 1880's, from the French photo schools, was truly spectacular. We were delighted by the surprisingly beautiful, intimate images of 19th century Berber women in their wedding ensembles, jewels and tattoos. We were surprised that the Berber's were not at all shy about the camera and photographers. A stunning lens into Moroccan cultures. Though small collection (3 small floors), it's worth a visit if you're looking for something extraordinary, authentic and descriptive. The large photos somewhat diminished without non-glare glass though. Apparently there was a thought of a larger, more modern facility, that fell through in 2017. Hopefully the government will determine that this national treasure will get a new upgrade.

Well worth the price. The staff is really nice. They let us come back to visit again another day on the same ticket. Pleasant collection. Doesn’t take long to see but it’s nice to linger on the rooftop cafe.

It is a small but a great place to visit when in Marrakech! I was very impressed to see photos made in late 1800s and to find a piece of Morroco's history. Also, it was great to see the nice terrace on rooftop, and to eat some nice dishes. The view is great, even the waiter is not as fast as we expected... :)

Small, well curated, well staffed. The House of Photography is located away from the main tourist-swallowing souks, and totally deserve the few minutes from your carpet bargaining schedule. The artwork on display is both beautiful, engaging, and telling. Most exhibits are available for sale in different sizes, the rooftop features the smallest Café ever, and the whole place is quiet, peaceful. One of our best experience in Marrakech to this day.

Fascinating to see the recent history captured in the photos and learn about the lifestyle of Morrocan and Berber people. I enjoyed reading about the photographers and their role in this narrative.
