Piazza San Marco, 30124 Venezia VE, Italy
Of course it's the most recognizable sight in Venice. So it's a must-see for all tourists. It's fun to people watch. There are some cafes and high end shopping on the square, too. You can easily get here taking a water taxi that drops you off at the square or by walking from the train/bus station, about 30-40 minutes depending on your speed.
It broke my heart when I saw this incredible square under 4 feet of water last week. There are so many exquisite shops and cafes in this area, not to even begin to mention the treasures and beauty in the cathedral and architecture. I hope the causeway geniuses can save this incredible city and it's people and treasures ... It is indeed a 'modern day' wonder.
Heart of the city. Of course a lot of tourist would like to visit this place during day time. But you can choose early morning or deep evening for visit. It’s my choice. Magic place with unique atmosphere, Italian mood and elegant architecture. Must visit.
Amazing square in the heart of beautiful Venice. Here for New Year, great atmosphere, very friendly locals. Lots to see and visit in the square, cafes, shops, Basilica, Doges Palace, museums etc. Cafe Florian is incredible but very expensive others also quite expensive. Or just wander round taking in the sights and watching the people.
Very busy but beautiful architecture in all directions. The basilica dominates the space at one end with lots of cafe and shops all around the other sides. You haven't been to Venice unless you've paid the square a visit!
