This is an English heritage property and is free to members. There is a car park across the road from the castle. The entrance contains an expedition and gift shop. There are a number of ways up to the castle either by a footpath that goes around the edge of the hill and climbs or a path that goes directly up. Either way you will have to climb to the castle. From the castle you can see across the countryside. The views are amazing. In one direction you can see another castle. A number of outer walls survive. If you return to the entrance there is a cave that can be viewed from outside.

Fantastic. Fab views over 8 different counties. Well maintained with a re-construction of a bronze age roundhouse of which 7 have been found on the site of the castle. Great place to take young kids. They can run around to their heart's content.

There's a really cool project going on here ,to restore the iron age huts. The views from the top of the castle were breathtaking, once you'd caught your breathe back from walking up the very steep hill.

Beeston what can I say it looked fantastic from low down but when we actually got to the top in in the castle grounds there was nothing there a pile of rocks and a few bits of walls that have been slong together not properly Lee and you can still see this cement I was quite disappointed I would have thought Eastern would look a bit more fantastic instead I was quite bored but great for a day out I found the entrance fee was quite expensive considering there was nothing there and it was wrong by the National Trust I thought was an absolute rip-off off National Trust I believe if you're British and you're from this country you should have a legal right to see any statue building castle for any feature for free and they should charge foreigners to view what we have had in the past instead of ripping off the British people this country has gone down the toilet

A firm favourite. We've been walking up to the castle in all weathers and at all times of the year. There is always something to see. An essential family walk. The new additions to the site are considered and enriching. Well worth a visit.
