Great museum. Spent a couple of hours here recently, and enjoyed the vast range of old stuff to look at, and the Spanish+English notes everywhere make it easy to understand. Be aware though, that the entrance to the museum is around the back of the building if approaching from the Colon metro station area (there is a small museum at the front, but this is not the one you want here).
The museum covers human history from 4 million BC to about 1200AD. It has short videos before each section that cover the major historical events during that time period. I want to find the videos and watch them later because they had a lot of good information. Almost everything is in both Spanish and English. You might want to see the museum over two days because it's hard to stay contemplative for four hours straight. Luckily tickets are only 3€ so it's not unreasonable to come back if you have the time. There's unfortunately not a ton of diversity in the collection because most of their artifacts are from burial sites. I'm guessing that's to be expected with archeology museums though so I can't fault then for that. They make up for it by describing the context around each piece and explaining why it's significant. So don't expect to get anything out of it by just looking at stuff.
Incredible place and the employees are very kind. The exhibition is very large and you need at least 3 to 4 hours to complete the tour. This taking enough time to appreciate the exhibitions calmly. It includes pieces from ancient Greece, Rome, Spain. And also of prehistoric times. You will love your visit to this museum. 100% recommended. Saturdays entrance is free.
Great archeological Museum. Lots of displays on Iberian prehistory and Spanish archeology.and history. Very well displayed and informational. There is a lot to see depending on what you ant to see, could easily spend hours here. All displays in Spanish and English which was great.
Great museum! Very interesting with a lot of things to see. We really recommend. Also suitable for older kids, especially the first exhibition with about the homosapiense.
