A fairly accessible and well organized natural river beach. With little waterfalls and stone ruins to explore.
Wonderful river beach, really pure nature. Very clean water and surroundings. There is a small snack bar. Bring comfortable shoes, so you can enjoy the walk through the florest!
Great in the summer, for a quick (or longer, depending on your reaction to cold water) dip in the clear waters of the Alge River. If you're into rock climbing, there's also 3 multi-pitch routes, with levels ranging IV - 6b, with the biggest pitch at around 30m. In the last few years, it has become a more popular destination due to the instalation of a brand new wooden walkway that follows one of the cliff edges down to the river. There's a small cafe/restaurant at the bottom where you can find ice cream, cold drinks and have a quick bite. There's also a public barbecue grill next to the river, but bear in mind to bring charcoal and tools. Also, there's only one grill available, and it often gets crowded, specially on the weekends.
Must to see! Fragas de São Simão is one of the most beatiful location in Center of Portugal. If you are here check too the Aldeia São Simão. Recomended
Love this place, especially in the summer, one if the best spots to chill, swim, sunbathe, rock climb, picnic, hike, explore in the region
