Largo Infante Dom Henrique, 2440-109 Batalha, Portugal
Beautiful, well-preserved architecture along with some significant artifacts, and good explanations of the historical significance in English. Make sure to visit the unfinished chapel, and take time to look at the detailed sculpting around the portals. Also, you can observe the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier.
Lovely to visit. Especially liked the unfinished chapels. Small charge (6 euros for family ticket (with two under 12s)). Some interesting artworks in the cloisters
Exceptionally interesting Monastery. Initial build from 1514. The Chapter House is definitely the finest I have ever visited, made even more inspiring by the fact that there was a Guard of Honour stationed inside. The small museum dedicated to the Portuguese forces involved in the first World War, was also very interesting. A day well spent, with many wonderful memories.
A really worth to see Monastery, although a bit expensive with 6€ per adult. However awesome architecture and a nice garden in the middle. The unfinished church was a highlight too.
I liked it but I liked Alcobaça better. However, the sunlight coming in through the colorful painted glass windows is definitely a highlight here.
