Very nice museum! Nice that it is still preserved. The volunteer talked enthusiastically about Ruurd Wiersma and was very nice.
Very nice with excellent tour
This small museum, hidden in an alley between the houses, used to be the home of Ruurd Wiersma. At least half of the museum was. The other half is the adjacent house that was added later. Ruurd Wiersma was a naive painter who taught himself to paint. What is most special about him is that, almost compus-lovingly, he has painted his entire house: the walls, the ceiling, down to his clogs, shoes, and slippers. The guide was very friendly and gave us a short tour. There was going to be a group for the Ruurd Wiersma Experience, so actually we weren't even allowed to go inside. Please note that you cannot pin there. Given the entrance fee, you don't have to bring a lot of money, but otherwise you will have to walk to the ATM in the village.
Ruurd Wiersma: a striking and idiosyncratic man, one of the few artists in Friesland with his own museum. Step into his former home with the cheerfully painted walls and get to know him and his story through his art. You will be given a personal tour by a knowledgeable guide. Small but nice and not to be missed. Highly recommended!
