Wonderful place to visit with a very interesting history. Well worth taking a guided tour. Quite a large place with uneven grounds. The gift shop is sadly very small but has some unique items for sale (no tourist tut).

We visited Phaistos instead of most famous Knossos. Phaistos is the same age of palace as like Knossos, but mostly all original (not rebuilt). The parking is very easy there near from palace's entrance with beautiful view around the oil tree fields and mountains on the north side. The entrance is free of charge for children and kids under age of 18. All the rooms and building has individual descriptions about history, names etc...it is written in English and Greek. It has a nice souvenir shop and coffee shop with clean toilets etc...

Nice would be a simple expression! It made me wonder about the processes of life and the disappearance of an entire civilization. What if this place is a part of a cycle?

Very nice historical site! Unfortunately, the opening hours derive from what you find online. The staff was friendly enough to sell us tickets at 18:15 just to announce that everyone has to leave at 18:30 sharp!

Beautiful, quiet ruins of a Minoan palace. In the summer it's very hot but some trees offer some shade. The smoothies are very nice as well! Some reconstructions of the palace in color would be nice.
