Citadel itself is nice. Interior, maybe one of the most impressive sceneries inside of mosque which I have visited till now. The garden very nice. Also, backyard has amazing view on the entire Cairo and Giza, above all you can see Pyramids. But, there is no much history explained, no museum works there. I don't understand what the ticket is paid for.

Sprawling over a limestone spur on the city's eastern edge, the Citadel, started by Saladin in 1176 as a fortification against the Crusaders, was home to Egypt’s rulers for 700 years. Their legacy is a collection of three very different mosques, several palaces (housing some either underwhelming, or nearly-always closed museums) and a couple of terraces with superb Cairo views – on a clear day you'll see Giza's Pyramids poking up in the far distance.

Couldn't see anything because I didn't have a scarf to put on my hair. You pay for the ticket, then you have to pay to rent scarves, and for feet cover. I didn't had cash money because it was our last day so I had to watch the mosques only from outside. Too bad, the Egyptian state don't take care of the tourists, they let anyone inside who wants to rip you off. Everywhere I go in Egypt they only see you re tourist and starts to sell you things, even I am just standing on the street without looking for anything. Anyway the view of the city from The Citadel is beautiful. The police museum is only for Egyptian people because nothing is written in English.

The Citadel is very beautiful but I hope more maintenance work will be carried out by the government.

Beautiful spot for all kinds of events or even just for a day visit to enjoy the rich history in the place in all the details all around, if you're going in day time take a bottle of water with you at least, it might be hot and hard to find any one selling bottled water there sometimes
