Lots to see for a very good price. Went with two kids, whose admission was free. There is a lot to walk around and look at, interesting special displays, and overall just very nice facilities. Would definitely recommend it as a place to stop and check out while in Hanoi. I was particularly impressed with the revolutionary bunker, make sure not to miss going underground and checking it out.

Really cool! Lots of information about the different dynasties in Hanoi and residing in the citadel. They have 2 military bunkers which we thought were really interesting! Definitely a highlight. Large area to walk around and easy to navigate.

I have no clue why this is on any Hanoi itinerary. There's a massive lack of displays explaining what the significance of this building you're looking at is. There are many buildings to look around but I don't actually know what the interest is. Definitely wouldn't recommend unless you are extremely passionate about seeing it already. Also a lot of it was under construction so the buildings are surrounded by welders and machinery.

Definitely one of the landmarks you should visit while visiting Hanoi, even if you stay just for one day. The place breathes with history. It was also a nice surprise there was book festival during our visit and the food was great. Admission is negligible and you get to see part of Vietnamese history.

Not bad, it’s like $1.50 usd to get in so it’s hard to complain. The actual citadel was mostly demolished and rebuilt by the French, so while yes it’s technically 1000 years old... it’s not really that old. but the D67 bunker and the politburo are perfectly preserved, maps on the wall and very nicely labeled which is really cool to see, where they defeated the “American Empire” as they say. Overall it’s worth going to if you have an hour two it’s worth it, but don’t have super high expectations it’s not the Forbidden City or the Smithsonian.
