The museums and galleries here were well worth a visit. The ticket actually allows you into 3 different galleries and museums: 1. The main art gallery - By far the best of the 3, with a variety of paintings, lacquer art, and statues displayed over several floors. 2. The special gallery - what is featured here changes regularly. I wasn't fond of what was featured when I recently went though. 3. The stone statues and ceramics - felt more like a museum than a gallery than the other two, due to nearly all of the pieces being within glass cabinet.

The museum contains mostly modern art in the Vietnam war period. The artworks are amazing. There are 2 sections in the building, one with permanent artworks displayed all the time, and one with periodic exhibitions, each exhibition lasts for different time length. Make sure you don't miss the second one. The structure of the museum is gorgeous, with the affect of French architecture since it was built in the French colonial time. The hallways and balconies are magnificent. And there's a outdoor area for sculpture display with walls painted with images of Vietnamese dragon, making it my most favorite space in the museum. There's also a historic myth about the building, about the ghost of the girl who was the daughter of the building's original owner, a successful Chinese businessman...

Very nice building, with fine ceilings, stained glass windows and tiled floors in the style of William Morris. The artworks on display at the time of visit were all 20th century and not of the first order with many seemingly being poor imitations of other western works. Entry fee applies (but is very low). Toilets on every floor. Museum is on three floors, there is no disabled access, or lifts.

Are you here for the building or the art? The buildings are impressive, but very much in a state of disrepair or being repaired. WC’s on every level. Access is only through stairwells. Air conditioning was working in a few areas but where windows & shutters were open, a pleasant breeze entered, great design. Lighting of artworks were generally good, some poor and in some areas non existent. The sculptures, ceramics & lacquer paintings, in my opinion, were the highlights of the works on show. Sadly the length of the footpath at the entrance was disconcerting, with human waste, stench & rubbish. Construction of a train station next to the Gallery looks like an exciting development for the City. 30000 entrance.

An impressive collection spread out through 3 buildings. Very reasonable entrance and great variety of art. One of the buildings is for temporary exhibits and the other 2 are permament collection. Very wide selection of Vietnamese art. THe buildings are old with beautiful tile floors and walls, but they could do a bit of painting and brighten up the place with better lighting.
