So extremely beautiful and absolutely worth visiting. And even revisiting. Because its stunning. HOWEVER, you must be prepared for two things. 1. There are absolutely no signs as you walk throughout the park to direct you. On top of this, there is construction that blocks you at a few different turns. So all you can do is ask clueless passerby or look up the hill and take your best guess. This led to it taking us probably twenty minutes from the park's entrance to the Cloisters. If you are able to call ahead and talk with someone about what Park entrance you'll be using, it would probably be very helpful. We had a much easier time getting out (probably only a five minute walk).
One of my favorite places in NYC. A little sanctuary in the city. Wonderful collections, beautiful architecture, and lovely views from the courtyards. There isn't much things so do around and it's pretty far from everything yet I visit every couple of times a year. The park is beautiful especially in spring abd fall so please check it out.
Great place to go for art and history lovers. I recommend to spend enough time to make a picnic outside the Cloisters as well at the beautiful Fort Tryon Park with great views of Hudson River. The Museum take you to very long time ago with impressive medieval pieces of art. Subway elevator are temporary closed until November 2021. You can mix Subway and M4 bus service straight to the Museum front door.
Excellent museum! The building itself is a piece of art and is fun to explore for its own sake. Has excellent views, is easy to get to, easy to park. Takes about 2-3 hours.
I went to a school very close to the Cloisters so I visited very often. This is the most beautiful place in New York. It is part of the Metropolitan Museum and you can visit both on the same day for one price. You will view the most amazing religious art here including the Unicorn Tapestry.
