We enjoyed Ringing Rocks for a short visit, and then hiked down to the falls nearby, which I thought was nicer. They were still expanding some of the hiking trails when we visited. The rocks in the boulder field do produce a nice ring if you hit them with a metal hammer, but not every single one rings very well. If they look like they've been hammered many times they're probably one of the good ones.

What a very cool place to visit! The walking trails are cool in themselves. If you have asthma, don't for get your inhaler because some of the trails are pretty steep. Definitely wear good solid sneakers or hiking boots. There is easy level access to the boulder field if you take the loop trail on either the right or the left but if you go further there are inclines/declines. If you venture into the boulder field, take your time, it's an adventure and would be very easy to get your foot stuck or twist and ankle. It was fun imagining how it must have been hundreds of years ago when some just happened upon this in the woods. It was even more fun trying to play a tune with a hammer and a few different boulders. This was a great quirky stop on our road trip back from Pittsburgh to Massachusetts. It would be a fun educational trip with kids. Do a little research on your own about how the big old bells were made because that's what these rocks sound like. PS...don't forget to bring a hammer!!!

A fun experience! The boulder field is a 3 minute walk from the parking lot. Parking lot is pretty small, we parked on the side of the road in a little cut out. The trail was cool- about a 45 minute loop, start to finish. Sadly, the waterfall was waterless... but still a cool hike. My kids, ages 11,5 and 2 were able to do it and this was their first experience on a "hike". If you're thinking of going, do it, it's worth it!

Was a fun little stop off but I'd definitely suggest going in the spring. We went in the fall. The waterfall was completely dried up. We also had higher expectations for the "ringing" but it was still a unique phenomenon

It was beautiful area. The site was clean but some spots are small But the office and general store was nice, staff was very friendly, bathroom was clean and maintained with showers. We wish we stayed longer. They are definitely on the list for a revisit
