Anyone who enjoys interesting history and stonework should definitely visit the castle and take in the builder's work. A sad but beautiful story about a broken hearted, brilliant man who carved coral out of the ground and built a small castle for the family he would have had if life hadn't taken that turn. The courtyard is amazing with quite a few curiosities complimented by the plants and flowers. There's a short movie about the history followed by a tour. Reasonably priced and not hard to find.

A beautiful place with a romantic story. The site can only be visited with a guide. Before the tour starts you will see a video to give more background information about Coral Castle. Once you are inside the 'castle' you can walk around freely. Meanwhile, the guide tells the story behind the various objects. The 'castle' is a structure consisting of a large wall within which all kinds of carved coral stone objects can be found. The whole thing is in the open air.

Apparently Ed was a quirky, ornery man. So is the staff at Coral Castle. At least they're true to their founder? Here's the problem with this place: they only allow guided tours of the small, unimpressive grounds. But they don't advertise this stipulation anywhere. Not on their site, not at the admissions window...not even in the waiting area where they hold you hostage until a timed tour is ready to start. I can understand the need to keep unsupervised exploration to a minimum, if there's concerns about safety or security of the exhibits. But you have to tell your customers this BEFORE they purchase tickets. At almost $20 per person, this place was barely worth it to begin with. Me and my friends came predominantly out of boredom during our stopover between Miami and the Keys. But with the requirement for guided tours, and the exceedingly rude staff, that admission price quickly becomes a joke. Do yourselves a favor, and don't bother with this place. It's not worth it, even if you find yourself with time to kill in Homestead. Enjoy the great food and other options in the city instead!

11/17/17 Bucket list adventure! Drove an hour from ft Lauderdale, caught 2.5 tour guides, and stayed for 3 hours. How anyone would rate this less than 5 stars is beyond me. The tour guides did a phenomenal job! Each with their own personality. DEF Worth the price of admission. I wasn't able to buy any souvenirs this time, But I do plan on going back. Great first date spot. Great relaxation area. Great views from anywhere you stood. Great information. Great history. Great atmosphere. Great people. Engineering marvel. Better love story than twilight. 10/10 would recommend.

I visited this place four years ago and had a young lady who did an absolute awesome job. Very personable and very knowledgeable. Loved the experience. Today we drove over three hours and did the 4:00 tour by a fellow named Hunter who did an absolutely terrible job. Absolutely no personality, very blunt and in no way should be doing tours. It was a very short and incomplete tour. He was actually rude in answering some questions. I will now recommend to people not waste their time. Not impressed.
