Nice, peaceful park. The river runs through town. Trails along it also. Be careful as you pull into the parking lot. It is solid stone, very much like a rough cobblestone. But we'll worth the visit!
This little gem is a famous local spot for the Glen Rose community. It is, as its name implies, a gathering of natural rock formations that are fun to climb on and provide copious photo ops for families and students. The adjacent water spill provides cool refreshment during the warmer months. The park is free. The only caution I would offer is to bring a few adhesive bandages for the occasional skknned knee.
This place was super fun! And it’s free! Bring some lunch, towels and some chairs! Super clean. We didn’t swim because today was cold, but we climbed, walked, eat our ice cream and spent a good hour just hanging out. It was a good time!
The big rocks are just that, big rocks. Unusual rock formation. There is a pleasant river walk which goes by the Glen Rose Heritage Park. There are some buildings there with no historical information at all which would be nice. There is a nice children's playground with restrooms at the Heritage Park. Can't say the place is exceptional but is a nice area to go exploring & climbing around on Big Rocks.
This was my first time here. Water es very shallow which is good for relaxing and lay down in the water. People was very friendly. My only concern is the parking here is very limited. If you would like to enjoy this place for free. Go early to get a parking spot.
