Great spot for pups to play and cool off in the water. This off-leash area is inside the park and has water access points. There are shady areas and tables/seating to cool off at. It isn’t fully fenced in, there is just fence that corrals the dogs away from the road, but still has openings to enter. The worst part is finding parking. Our dogs had a lot of fun!
Its nice as far as there being enough parking, but the water surface water on most of the lake is a lot dirtier than the water at Red Bud Isle. Dogs didn't get access to much of the water, where as at Red Bud, there are several little areas with very shallow water giving the dogs a nice cooling off. Neither of them swim, so they are timid when they have to 'jumps to get in the water.
It's a really nice place to go for a walk with stunning views
While the park is beautiful, it is dangerous for dogs. The fact they don’t have a proper fence with a gate is insane to me considering the roadway in/out is RIGHT there. I’ve seen dogs dart into the roadway way too many times. I’d hate for something to happen to one of them when we could solve it by just installing a fence. I miss when the road was closed off to cars.
This is the only legally off-leash dog park that I'm currently aware off in Austin. It's a sizable fenced area to let your puppers run off excess energy and meet new friends. There are water fountains for humans and dogs within the enclosure, so no need to worry about dehydration. And during the hot summer months, there are multiple access points to the river so that the dogs can easily cool off in the water. It's a little difficult finding parking during the weekends and peak hours, but if you have a dog, I think it's worth it.
