Enjoyed a couple hours meandering through this fascinating house. The docents were excellent, always ready with their many stories while always asking if we'd prefer to just look. While not as many of Walpole's original items it is still a fascinating display with much architectural interest. The cafe was very nice too. Staff in all areas very friendly.
We spent a fascinating couple of hours in this very unusual and unique house, designed in Gothic style to show off Horace Walpole's collections and to allow him to have a view of the Thames and Richmond Hill. The specific reason for going on a day that the house is not normally open was to view an exhibition by the Teddington Art Group whose more modern works contrasted at times with the Gothic surroundings. Very knowledgeable volunteers around the house.
Love the house. Staff were fascinating and helpful. Sunday manager was brilliant. Only improvements would be signage from the front of the house to the actual entrance. Weird unisex toilet with tiny sink that just splashed over the side and hygiene bin that was too close to the loo.
Amazing place - I took my Mam & Dad there and we had a lovely day out visiting the fabulous house and beautiful gardens. Staff are friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the house and it's history, and the cafe is fantastic: delicious, high-quality food and great service!
Stunningly beautiful house with pretty grounds and a cafe with a nice setting. It definitely has a unique style and I wish there was more furniture showing how the house used to be. The guides were very informative and super friendly, though sometimes it would be nice to just take it all in and then ask if you want to know more details.
