Been here loads. So glad the sound for PP Arnold was so good as often the sound here is pretty ropey due to the low ceiling methinks. Short staffed at the bar meant getting a drink was not fun. GAH!

My partner and I sometimes have a bit of trouble when we go out together but last night at Patterns restored my faith in Brighton clubbing. The clientele were super friendly and we both loved the music, bar staff lovely also. It has an old school vibe and the people there were just about the dancing. There was no trouble and we both felt safe. Thanks

I was here for The Great Escape festival. Good venue with both upstairs and downstairs set up with some great artists. Standard price for drinks. The toilets are pretty rank, but no worse than any other club. Good location near the beach. And I think it stayed open later than a lot of other venues during TGE.

Terrible experience. I've been to patterns before and it has been 'okay', music's alright but is a small venue. But the past two times I've been have been terrible. The last time I went, me and 7 other friends entered paying £8 each. Once we were inside, it was absolutely empty, baring in mind this was the day before Brighton pride and it was fairly late in the night. We hung around for bit and it didn't pick up. Music was terrible aswell. We decided to leave and I asked for the manager. I just explained how it was empty and we'd like a refund, considering most other clubs do refund you if this happens. We'd only been in for less than 10 minutes. The manager went to speak to someone. After waiting for around 10 minutes, she comes back, says "no refund" and walks off. Very unprofessional and terrible service. Being students, £8 for an empty club is very frustrating. I know myself and my friends won't be going back.

Will definitely re-try this place on a night I’m more keen on, but TBH the music the night I attended was decent. Maybe it was a bad day, but I found it hard to relax with a pretty heavy smell of stale dry ice lingering about the dance floor. Sort of like old lemon Cilit Bang mixed with dust, dirt, and sticky drinks on the floor. The lights display was poor and just switched at a consistent tempo for the whole night, not at all in time with what was being played. Upstairs felt like being on the set of a 90s American sitcom - weird shift from all the (unintentional) grime downstairs. That said, these guys get some pretty good acts in, so...
