A wonderful day out for the family. Lovely walled farmhouse garden, tea room serves delicious locally sourced food. The 'castle', a folly is extremely picturesque with ducks and dragonflies. A lovely little woodland play area can be found inside the gardens. The estate woodland walks are free and fabulous with a range of routes that can be enjoyed all year round. Well worth a visit!

A beautiful location, but overpriced and the National Trust hard sell is really grating. The castle itself is really gorgeous and quite unique in design. However it is quite small and there's not a lot to see inside. It's more of a crooked house! The gardens are also unique and fun to lose yourself in for an hour. The stately home is diverting enough but not gripping. The price does not reflect the lack of things to see and do. I wish there was a 'gardens only' entrance price as they are worth a look. There is enough to do on the grounds without paying to enter, with the walled garden, picnic area and walks surrounding the grounds which give you incredible views of the countryside and the castle. What really lets it down is being hassled to join National Trust at every interaction. I was offered membership 9 times in 4 hours, each time guilting me into how much money I would save, 3 times while just trying to hand over my credit card to get in. Staff existed only for this purpose, and couldn't help me with my queries about the property itself. A nice place poorly run.

Scotney Castle is a great sight. They have an amazingly well preserved old castle, all surrounded by water with lilies and beautiful trees, as well as the new big house with so many books and art... It is a perfect location for a quiet family life, and definitely worth going to visit

Had a nice walk around the gardens. The weather was cool and sunny. very quiet here. Only birds, cows and running water. The house was great to look around. You can picnic or use the cafe. They also have an ice cream hut. Enjoyed the day.

We have been to Scotney Castle Grounds today. Its a wonderful place. To be close to animals and get close to horses are precious thing to have nowadays since all the lands farms the whole Earth is fenced up and blocked off even to see such life from a distance. So we go to the grounds as often as we can to enjoy the country side and animals and treasure it all. Also supported the farmers there and bought some organic vegetables for a very reasonable price. Thank you National Trust to allow us to commune with animals again
