6 Professors' Square, Glasgow G3 6BY, UK
Big nice and clean park. Easy to park, not specifically expensive compare to other places. 2 great playgrounds and a skate park. Nice duck pond with baby ducklings. Clean public toilets. Love this place and going very often.
I have loved Kelvingrove Museum for years. Recently I had an hour to wait whilst my was busy nearby, so popped in just while I waited. It was nice to do very little in there, very slowly rather than trying to see everything. I spent almost all the time on Dali's St John of the Cross. Wonderful!
Big old park with places dotted around for kids and adults to do - football pitches, skate parks and nice areas to sit. Tourists - take a look at hill 60 which is iconic when it is sunny. Great view of Glasgow University and worth the photo.
Kelvingrove bandstand for the summer sessions gig by the Pixies, being outdoors if you get the weather it's a brilliant venue and being an amphitheatre you're pretty much guaranteed a decent view. If you're planning on sitting down for your chosen artist though I'd take a cushion as the seating is all concrete. For some reason they operate a token system to buy food and drink but there's plenty of token vendors hanging around. The staff are a bit more laid back these days in as much as they don't hassle you for standing which was the case when I first went there a couple of years ago. All in all I'd recommend it, just dress accordingly for the weather.
Now been here twice - Squeeze and Happy Mondays and think it's the best venue Glasgow has to offer. Plenty of staff, all friendly and helpful. Bring a kagool and a bum cushion though, especially if you're not up for dancing at your seat as the concrete 'seats' can get cold!
