It was my second time staying in a hostel and my partners first. He was a little apprehensive as the idea of sharing rooms with people was unusual for him. However, we just needed a cheap night somewhere before heading to Dundee. We arrived late after our flight was delayed but this wasn't an issue. We were welcomed and shown around and told about breakfast, showers, toilets etc. We were shown to our room where everything was explained to us. Surprisingly, how beds were super comfortable. We had our own lights and plug sockets which was a bonus. Each bed had blackout curtains too which made you feel as though you weren't in a room with others and you weren't worried about people looking at you. Breakfast was basic continental but a good touch with tea and coffee etc. Towels are provided the showers and the facilities were clean. Check in and check out was easy and quick so there was no panic about missing the bus etc. Overall, a great stay which has improved our outlook on hostels.

Overall: The stay was quite comfortable. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Very good price considering it was a busy time of the year. Would definitely recommend it. Pros: - depending on the bed you're given, the space is quite small but its enough for whats needed. - each bed has a usb and socket to charge phones which was great as well as a little night light if needed. - free towels - clean facilities - toilets and showers. - breakfast in the morning and access to kitchen throughout the stay. Cons: - No parking available. Had to park in a nearby carpark over night which cost £22/night. - slightly difficult to find as the sign was not clear or big enough. I was lucky to bump into the receptionist outside the building entrance who was taking a 5 min break at the time

Very basic but practical, right in the center. A bit hot in August, 3 floors no lift.... Don't bring too much luggage! Nice people

It does have a strong smell when you walk in to reception but you get used to it.. would be great to air the place a bit :\ and the room can get super stuffy. Bed was itchy (2 out of 5 for cleanliness) and showers turned extreme hot to extreme cold before I found one that works. Staff were arguing for a while both times I decided to chill in the seating area, which got a bit annoying. Cheap for Edinburgh and super good location, plus staff were accommodating and lovely + kitchen facilities are pretty good. If you can pretty much fall asleep anywhere and your not so keen on comfort - this is the place for you.
