The Grand Bazaar is not only easily accessible by tram it is also fairly centrally located. The shops are filled with colourful ,eye catching rugs, jewellery, clothes, pottery, leather goods, scarves and more. Looking for a great gift to take home from your holiday? Spend a day scouring the shops, avail yourself of the friendly welcoming vendors and blow your mind sampling the local sweetmeats and teas. But be prepared to find yourself lost whilst wandering down the various side streets in search of that must have present.

Nice bazaar... Good shops... There are some nice restaurants as well... The leather market is really good... I really liked some of their jackets... They also have lots of nice Turkish dresses for women... There's are probably way too many shops for Turkish delights though... You should be good at haggling if you'd like to get a decent price... They tend to overcharge and I have managed to get people down to 60% of their initial asking price... Not sure how much lower they could have gone... The currency exchange rates are among the best in the city...

What are you looking for and how much work do you want to put in? You will find sweets, food clothing, spices, tea and gold. If you want to buy gold, know its current value per gram and don't pay double that. Everything else, be just as careful. Spices and teas range from 160 TL to 1000 TL per kilo (prices can be 5-fold) . Ask for a taste, check the quality and make sure they don't give you more than you need (because you will pay for more than you need). You can often bargain, especially if you are in a group buying more. Clothing is pretty much entirely fake goods. Be careful about exporting them. Other than that, hold on tightly to your belongings. Pickpockets are here and there and have fun exploring. PS: While most stores sell what I have mentioned some also sell all kinds of other stuff like bowls, scissors, kitchenware, makeup and god only knows what else.

Good place to shop. You need to have some serious bargaining skills as vendors will tell you just double price. Best time to shop is early morning 9:30am- 12pm prices are generally low at start . Friday is the recommended day when the prices are comparitively less. You'll find people selling on small stalls or walking by who don't have shops. Do buy from them as they are more needy and keep very less profit margin.

Lively bazaar culture at its best. The variety of products and choices there is incredible. But I believe most marked price there is inflated as in many popular tourist shops around the world. Still I think the product quality is decent for what you pay. The entire market is richly decorated with Turkish culture, which alone is worth paying a visit
