The site where the monument is located gives a panoramic image of the City of Guanajuato so it is a traditionally touristic site.

Armando Pedraza González:Guanajuato's mummies can befound in the city's Mummy Museum. Here, the mummified bodies of local people, (a consequence of the peculiar mineral composition of the region's soil) have been on display since 1870. The first mummy to be exhumed was that of a French Doctor Remigio Leroy, in 1865. Today, the museum consists of various exhibition halls, in which 119 mummified bodies are on display; 79 women, 21 men and 19 children, one of which is the smallest mummy in the world.

Armando Pedraza González:Padre Belauzarán and Hidalgo, Guanajuato's unique under ground streets, cross the city along the dry riverbed of the River Guanajuato. From 1963 to 1966 they were converted into streets measuring 3 km long. From here, one can admire some of the city's charming archways and balconies, which loom over every opening in the tunnel.

Armando Pedraza González:The Juarez Theater is a majestic structure that is located in the city center. Its construction began in 1872 and was completed in 1903. The neoclassical style of its facade is crowned by bronze statues of the Greek muses. The interior offers a wealth of delights, such as the entrance and foyer (or Smoking Room), with their columns and garlands and elegant decor. The auditorium itself is Mauresque, with ara besque detail throughout. The curtain bears a splendid painting of Constantinople. It is the only theater in the country that has conserved its original furnishings.

In the 19th century, its spetacular gilt altarpieces were replaced with neoclassical versions.
