Day Trip #1 - Laugarvatn and Vicinity

Laugarvatn is a lake in the Southern Region of Iceland. It's just under a one and a half hour's drive from the capital. Here are a few nice things to do and see near Laugarvatn:

Nína:Lovely spa at the lakeside. During winter, you can linger in the warm water and gaze at the stars while lake-swimming is an option during the summer. Highly recommended.

Snorralaug
Nína:Snorralaug is a geothermal pool in Reykholt. It used to belong to Snorri Sturluson, one of Iceland's most prominent writers and politicians during the Age of the Sturlungs. Unfortunately, it's prohibited to take a dip.

Reykjanes Peninsula is where the Blue Lagoon and the Keflavik Intl. Airport is situated. The area is home to many of Iceland's most special geological wonders.
