During this winter training program, we focus on surviving in extreme weather & extremely low temperatures in a natural and wild environment. We’ll bring you as far as Lapland, well above the polar circle, in the wilderness between Gällivare and Kiruna, the two little towns lying within the vast forests and mountain area of this northern part of Europe.

What to expect?

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival

  • You'll arrive at Gällivare or Kiruna, in either the train station or airport. We’ll pick you up from there and drive for less than an hour by car to the hotel. From there, we’ll grab a coffee before taking a 15-minute snowmobile ride towards the wilderness camp where our lodge is.

Day 2: Course, practice and activities

  • Today, we’ll start with a breakfast in the morning and follow it up with a survival course starting at 10:00 am.

Program: Basics and Fire

  • The base of survival

  • The essentials

  • "Make the right choice"

  • Fire techniques

(In the afternoon and after a lunch break we will go out and practice what we have learned during the morning.)

  • Before or after the practice you’ll have the time for whatever activities you choose.

Day 3: Course and practice

  • We'll again have breakfast before heading out for training at 10:00 am.

Program: Shelter

  • Shelter: summer shelter and of course winter shelter.

  • How do you build it?

  • With what?

  • Where?

  • No rope, what to do?

  • What comes first?

  • Isolation and wind shields

(In the afternoon and after a lunch break we will go in out and practice what we have learned during the morning.)

  • Building a shelter takes a lot of time. Because of this, we won’t have the time for extra activites today.

Day 4: Course and practice

  • Just like the previous days, we'll enjoy breakfast before our 10:00 am leave time.

Program: Water and food

  • What to drink

  • Where to find it

  • How to melt snow

  • What to do for food

  • Where to find food

  • rapping and networks (no killings in our tours but intense practice)

  • Tracking animals, silent walking

  • No activities today.

Day 5: Practice Day

  • You’ll have the opportunity to practice what we’ve been learning. During those two days (day 5 and 6), you’ll be ready to sleep in your shelter if you feel capable of doing so. The lodge is, of course, available anytime, so guests should let pride make them take the risk of frostbite, or worse. Use those days to do an activity you didn’t have time to do prior, perhaps.

Day 6: Practice day

  • You still get the chance to practice, with time allotted for you to set more traps to increase your chances of catching sustainable food, improving your wind shields, or gathering more food.

Day 7: Return

  • Pack up time; we are going back to civilization today. On request, you can decide to pass by the ice hotel on your way back to the airport or train station (return via Kiruna in this case).
