Palacio Pascual del Riquelme, Plaza Ayuntamiento, 9, 30202 Cartagena, Murcia, Spain
The theatre is a superb example of a roman architecture and has been sympathetically restored. The ticket office is not onsite but on the street where the town hall is located which is a little confusing. The structure itself is in the middle of the town and surrounded by homes which makes it very atmospheric. My husband and I climbed to the top tier which I don't recommend unless you like heights but gives a super panoramic view of the town. The staff are very friendly and informative as we discovered the site was buried under the town's disco. Worth a visit if in the area.
Great place to visit, the local town hall have tried to maintain as much of the original theatre as possible and have done a great job in my opinion. Take the time to read about the history of the surrounding area, very interesting. One word of warning there is a guy pretending to be deaf who will ask you to provide some personal information on what looks to be an official form, if you complete the form he will insist that you make a donation. This guy is no more deaf than I am, beware its a scam
Absolutely fantastic. Rich in historical detail and the attached museum is beautifully laid out with bilingual descriptions of displayed artifacts. The theatre itself is accessed directly through a themed tunnel and is stunning. Don't think this is just another ruined pile of stones, imagination NOT required.
Simply stunning Roman amphitheatre. The museum attached is beautifully presented and clearly well funded. Definitely worth a visit.
Great history here, a sense of stepping back in time. You need good balance though to come down any steps within the arena. Entrance is not easy to find!
