I’ve been here multiple times. Beautiful old winery with multiple venues and places to visit within the estate. The first building is a tasting room. If you proceed further in you get to the different restaurants and sitting areas. Very beautiful, large green open spaces , classical dutch architecture. Top wine farm in this area, a must see!
Visited for a wine tasting. Beautiful old winery with various venues to visit in the estate. Our visit was rushed as they were closing.
Took the tour which was only somewhat interesting but I was surprised that they offered only a few wines to sample. No real tour of the growing areas, ie the vines themselves which in other places they are usually very proud of. The restaurant. Simon's was closed for some reason.
Oldest vineyard in the country (334 yr old) & one of the finest Cape Dutch architecture. Vicinity to the city & variety of wines production made it very popular. Museum-Wine tasting-cellar tour-Simon's restaurant-vineyard visit completes the tour. A wine glass was gifted to every visitor. At least spend half a day to see all around. My 2nd vineyard visit. (Visited Sula vineyard, Nashik, India in 2018) NB:-Not an endorsement of alcoholic beverages. Those who think it's better to drink wine than water are entitled to their words & health. If you want antioxidant resveratrol, better to get it at much lower price in red grapes.
Tim in the wine tasting room was incredible from his amazing knowledge of history and wine to his friendly demeanor. We had the most incredible time at Groot Constantia
