The vibe in this part of Johannesburg on a Sunday afternoon is really awesome! I do feel though that there is a reluctance to improve basic aspects such as proper and adequate seating in the market under the guise of being true to the rustic and hippie nature of the place. Food options in the market are pretty interesting and decently priced - usually about R70 per serving. The bar on the roof top is always very poorly stocked so don't expect fancy options. R44 will buy you a single shot plus a chaser in a plastic tumbler with ice. After 4pm the place gets really packed with a lot of very experienced and skilled dancers. A lot of the people are regulars and know each other from their respective dance clubs already. Incredibly friendly people all around... but don't mistake the friendliness and someone asking you to dance for flirting. It is also not a great idea to go as a couple if only one of you is a dancer and the one who isn't a dancer does not understand what is really going on there... rather both attend dance class first which is less of a culture shock in terms of personal space invasion. You will quickly realize that the selection of dance partners here has nothing to do with skin colour, age or gender. Naturally, men are predominantly paired with women but because of a lack of enough dancing men to go around, women tend to pair up on the dance floor as well. There are some craft shops as well that might peak your interest - take a look around!

Lots of different arts to view and little craft shops to see with lots of different small restaurants and pubs to chill....even a roof top bar to view the city and if you lucky you might be in a movie or sit com cause there is some people with video cameras etc.....and quite a bit of acting and people dressed up and doing things.....always entertaining.....well worth checking out

Awesome vibe! Plenty of restaurants and bars around. Arts on Main is usually the place to get food and start off the afternoon. Then head over to the Canteen... Also delicious food. The rooftop bar has Salsa afternoons and a bar on the rooftop. Alternatively, head over to all the interesting restaurants around, grab a bit to eat or hit the other rooftop venues! Definitely worth checking out!

This gem is in the middle of Johannesburg, yet is shines bright like a diamond. Parking is limited, the scenery and art is gorgeous, perfect place for insta pics.
