Top Highlights in San Diego

The city has numerous world-class attractions, theme parks, museums, water sports and more. In fact, you’re like to discover that even an extended visit isn’t enough time to visit them all.

Image - USS Midway Museum
USS Midway Museum
Esteban:The museum is brimming with real-life stories that will engage visitors of all ages. That said, it’s especially welcoming of their younger visitors. Children are actively encouraged to touch everything, sit in the captain’s chair on the bridge, or flip switches in the cockpits in numerous jets.
Image - Balboa Park
Balboa Park
Esteban:Balboa Park is 1,200 acre cultural and botanical park located in downtown San Diego. The park has dozens of attractions, so you may want to do some research ahead of time and map out which sites you want to see.
Image - La Jolla Shores Park
La Jolla Shores Park
Esteban:La Jolla Shores Park overlooks the ocean, and the cove is a beloved site for locals who love all sorts of water sports and activities. There is a cove which is a protected marine preserve, so snorkelers easily find stingrays, eels and other fish within a few feet of the shoreline. You can scuba dive or kayak in the cove as well.
Image - Coronado Island
Coronado Island
Esteban:Coronado is voted one of the best beaches in the United States. The island just off the coast of San Diego offers gentle surf, pristine sand, and a delightful village.
Image - Old Town
Old Town
Esteban:The San Diego Old Town is a visitor-friendly neighbourhood with historic adobe buildings. There’s wonderful set of preserved streets in the State Historical Park, which is so beutiful.
Image - Little Italy
Little Italy
Esteban:From the 19th century they settled close to the Embarcadero in what is now a congenial area of galleries, one-of-a-kind design shops, pizza spots, restaurants, bodegas, breweries and cafes that spill out onto patios.

Gay Friendly

San Diego has long since shrugged off its reputation as a conservative military town and is today one of the USA’s top LGBT destinations.

Image - Hillcrest
Esteban:Neighbourhood buzzing with gay bars and gay-owned restaurants, cafes and shops. Wheater you want fabulous coffee, a quiet brunch spot, thrift shopping, farmers markets or wild nightlife you will find it here.
Image - Black's Beach
Black's Beach
Esteban:he San Diego gay beach located in a secluded section of beach beneath the bluffs of Torrey Pines, just north of La Jolla. Huge, expansive and rather private – the northern end is gay, then it switches to nude, then questioning then surfers. A great vibe and absolutely pumping on the weekends.
Image - Porto Vista Hotel
Porto Vista Hotel
Esteban:Nice hotel in the center. It has a style bar with atmospheric harbor views, taking bar food to the next level with elevated flavorful snacks paired up with infused handcrafted cocktails.
Image - Hillcrest House Bed and Breakfast
Hillcrest House Bed and Breakfast
Esteban:B&Bs with beautiful décor, a Southern California ‘heart healthy’ breakfast, and 7 newly renovated guest rooms. Extremely gay-popular we loved the luxury 5,000 thread count linens, breezy open-air porch, fabulous local recommendations, and walking distance back after a night out!
Image - Lips Restaurant
Lips Restaurant
Esteban:The ultimate in drag dining with fabulous nightly live acts, a funky gospel brunch & outrageous decor. More straight than gay-popular, but if you want to enjoy a camp and kitschy meal out with fabulous divas (or just a few laughs over cocktails), Lips is a great option.
Image - Rich's
Esteban:San Diego’s largest gay nightclub, and one of the most popular located in the Hillcrest Gaybourhood. With two sizeable rooms each with their own bar and dance floor with DJs spinning for the energetic crowds.
