Largo Amor de Perdição, 4050-008 Porto, Portugal
This is a free museum, so not very much to complain about in that respect. But this is a highly 'art' centred museum and some of the exhibits require a great deal of interpretation. This is not really suitable for young children or those wanting lighter entertainment. The layout is restricted by the old use of the building as a prison, but the history of photography seems to take second place to the temporary exhibitions. If you are interested in photography this is worth a visit, if not there may be a better option out there.
Excellent, thought-provoking photography exhibitions in a unique space. One of the best photography museums we have been to and one of the best things to see in Porto. Would 100% recommend a visit!
Tell the world about us- powerful and moving temporary exhibition. Highly recommend a visit.
Beautiful museums. It's an old prison turned into a museum. You can get a bit lost inside, but it has it's charm. The temporary exhibition was amazing, regarding huma Rights/abuse in prisons and under certain régimes
The Portuguese Center of Photography hosts several very interesting photography exhibitions of mostly Portuguese artists. The building of the center is very nice and used to be a prison. Don't miss the upper floor, where there is a big collection of cameras.
