Here you can find the best Nata pastry! It really is that good, the filling is not too sweet, and it is just perfect. The line can be very long, so I would recommend to get into the coffee place itself and sit by the table, it’s faster. The service is a little bit slow, but the trip is totally worth it.
One of the best kept secrets is that you do not have to wait in line. Walk past the line into the restaurant and there's actually a beautiful patio that you can sit on in the back. There's over 400 tables so you never have to wait for a receipt. Excellent pastries and inexpensive menu.
Tarts are great, coffee is quite good. Rarely actually has all of the offerings listed in the menu. The sitting was an exercise in the waiter telling us the things that weren’t available. Must-do as a tourist, but you can also get equally good tarts more or less anywhere in Portugal. Expect a 20-30 minute wait for entry and another 15-25 minute wait for service.
OH, that is very special egg tart. it is totally different from what i have before. the egg part is not sweet and the pastry is very crispy. very delicious ! if you go there, not line to buy and eat outside, walk deep inside the restaurant, there is many seats and you can enjoy the tart without stress.
You can never go wrong with a Portuguese tart, but to go to the place that is the most famous for them, need I say more? Pastéis de Belém make the most delicious custard tarts... it’s such a shame you can’t send them overseas, because they wouldn’t survive the trip! Looks like I’ll just have to fly to Lisboa for another serving!
