R. Formosa, 4000-214 Porto, Portugal
The original place is under renovation, now the market is temporarily at basement level of La Vie mall (same building with decathlon). The environment is clean and bright. The vendors are friendly and warm. You can find flowers, veges, fruits, meat, fish and everything here. You can even have your breakfast here.
The vendors are incredibly nice. The produce is beautiful and every single thing tastes like heaven! I heard they are struggling so let's get buying!
BEWARE!!! professional pick pockets operate here. One of our party had their purse, euros and all credit cards stolen from within a zipped up bag here. Police caught up with us but the cards and suspects long gone. We then got followed again from here by another gang. We are very seasoned and careful travellers but this place is rife with theft so please be careful. Market is good even though it’s currently temporary. Nice selections of fruits, juices sardines meats fish and other stalls.
Mercado do Bolhão is the most popular market in Porto. You can buy flowers, fresh fish, different tips of food, and many other things. The original location is Rua Formosa, An imposing building. at this moment are in restructuring. Soo the temporary Mercado do Bolhão is in the shopping mall La vie.
Actually in Renovation!!!! But the temporary market is not far away from the old one. It is worth it to visit it and get a smoothie, or local delicious stuff to take or sitting there for lunch or coffee. Just walking around is a nice experience since you feel near to the natural way to buy groceries with no packages and stuff. An enjoyment for the eyes!!! There is even a pharmacy in there with nice natural stuff.
