R. de Dom Manuel II, 4050-346 Porto, Portugal
Right now the entrance is a building site, and the Palace is being renovated. Poor signage may mean that you miss the brilliance of what is still available (as did a friend of mine), otherwise 5 stars easy. Behind the construction is a glorious garden with unmatched views across the river, and the surrounding city. Peacocks prance peacefully across the park, with Cockerels clucking cheerfully alongside. A must for all visitors, a lovely way to decompress at the start of your holiday.
Beautiful gardens - a lot larger than I'd thought when entering. Lots of space to relax, and there was a book fair happening on the Friday evening we went. Great views of the river whilst you walk around, and quite a few chickens and ducks to look at. Very quiet and peaceful.
It is a magical big garden, full of different types of trees, flowers, and hidden corners. There are also all sorts of animals like peacocks, that walk majestically in the middle of us common mortals. Perfect for picnics, meditation, and taking those fantastic selfies surrounded by Nature. Porto at it's best!
A truly beautiful place to visit. The gardens are amazing to walk around with fantastic views of the whole city and river, with a great sunset thrown in down towards the coast. Loads of events on here and great to to walk around.
It was totally free to visit these extensive and charming gardens. We knew in advance that the central Crystal Palace (more accurately a green dome) was closed for refurbishment, but nonetheless loved the mystery of discovering each new hidden corner, from formal gardens to woodland towers. The views over the Douro were amongst the very best we encountered on our holiday. Strongly recommend for a 45 minute visit.
