Hotel is a fabulously located. The hotel is old and needs updating slightly but has excellent facilities. The rooms are reasonable, but the issue is they do not have hot drink making facilities in any rooms. The breakfast is very very poor for a supposed 5 star. Poorest breakfast I've had in a 5 star. The hotel In reality is a 4 star but charging 5 star prices due to its location on the beach.
Elevator HELL. Old hotel that once was a 5 star but needing a massive investment now. Location great, parking a few 100m away. Book a room on the 1st floor if not you spend all your time waiting for a lift. So many people we saw taking the stairs as we did. Breakfast was chaos. Queues of people piling their plates high like a nuclear holocaust was coming and towels on beds way before that. RIDICULOUS.
Our AC wasn't working when we got there. The front desk employees were beyond unhelpful. They were slightly rude. I don't speak a lot of Portuguese; but when you hear things muttered in an unkind tone with annoyed faces, they are likely not saying nice things. They told us the AC was out in the entire hotel. It was not. I'm only giving three stars because we saw a woman from house keeping, managed to let her know what was wrong, and she brought maintenance to us. They promptly fixed the issue, no thanks to the front desk liars.
Beautiful hotel in perfect location on the sea. I highly recommend the executive double suite on the top floor facing the sea. The smaller rooms are also very spacious and well equipped with all the regular amenities of this standard of hotel. Lots of very nice local restaurants and a little supermarket across the road. Positioned in an exclusive part of the Algarve, I feel safe to walk outside at night. Lovely walk to the the historical military fort at the end of the road. Easy access for wheelchair and disabled people and if you fancy your chances, there is of course the big casino on the lower 2 levels. One of my regular favourite places.
Terrible hotel but in a great location. First off, the hotel looks very modern from the outside and on the ground floor. The view to the beach is beautiful. However, having a beach and a casino at hotel shouldn't make it a 5 star hotel. The rooms in the hotel are still very old. The gym is literally a tiny room with two very old machines which is pathetic. Also, if your room is located at the end of the hallway on the first floor, you will have terrible wi-fi connection or none at all. We notified the front desk about this but they quickly brushed it off saying maintenance will come check the router but they never did. The elevators are terrible and the breakfast is chaotic. Won't be staying here again. This hotel is a 3-star at best. Read other recent reviews before booking a stay at this hotel.
