This relatively small museum packs quite a lot of information. It has well marked exhibits and gives one a reasonable understanding of history of various civilizations beyond Inca (including a section on erotic pottery). Though their explanations provide enough context, we also took their guided tour and our guide was a wealth of knowledge (his pro tip for those interested was, if possible travel to Peru's north for less visited but awesome history). As a bonus they have a beautiful cafe that can round ones afternoon or evening with nice refreshments.

Great museum with detailed notes on all the artefacts in over 8 languages. They also offer guided tours in English and Spanish for an extra 10 soles. The erotic sculpture area is particularly fascinating, despite it being kind of hard to be mature about (depending on the company you are with!). The garden is also very gorgeous. Overall a very informative learning experience! Note that they make you check your bags and you are not allowed to wear a hat inside. This is free and in a secured room. It is pretty difficult to get to on public transit, so take a cab! They also always have cabs waiting outside so don't let your taxi driver convince you to pay extra so they will wait for you to do the return trip!

Interesting place to spend a couple of hours in Lima while waiting for your flight. Had lunch there too. Followed the advice of the website and asked the reception to book us a safe taxi back to our hotel which was reasonably priced at 30sol back to our airport hotel, the hotel taxi to the museum cost 45sol

If you have one thing to do in Lima, make a stop here. It's a great deep dive into the Incan history and culture, with so many exquisite pieces. And when you're done, and have finished seeing the erotic ceramics gallery, the food is divine too. The deserts almost made me cry.

Very kind and knowledgable guide Gregory, guided us through the 12 masterpieces in the museum. We visited a couple of other museums in Lima, but this was better organized. Beautiful garden too. Must visit if you stay in Lima
