Absolutely stunning scenery minutes outside of Huaraz and the views are spectacular. Perfect for an acclimatization hike.

If you have any length of time in Peru make it a point to visit Huaraz and the nearby national park. A taxi, or better a colectivo will take you to the park entrance. Our experience yesterday was the Churup Loop trail. The 3.3 km route is seemly short, however, be sure to plan a full two hours to the lake and an hour back due to the elevation change. The lake is at 4460m. Some of our group of twelve swam in the crystal clear glacier water. We ranged in ages from 10 to 67. There is some climbing assists in the form anchored cables at several challenging points. Take water. Apply sunscreen. Pace yourself. Great the many International hikers.
