Dorota:The Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur, in French the 'Sacred Heart', erected at the end of the 19th century houses on of the biggest mosaics in the world. The building was partially destroyed during I World War. The first stone was laid on June 16th 1875, after selecting the project in the public competition won by Paul Abadie. The work was funded from donations - in many cases modest - collected throughout France, the names of the donors being carved in the stone.
