Firstly it's one of the most beautiful drives getting there. Driving through the valley with the crystal blue water on one side. The walk to the glacier is also amazing and the glacier itself is so close! Unbelievable views. There are two parkings, one by the camp site and the next further up by the lodge. It is 50kroner to park. It is about 3km walk to the glacier but the trail is good and it isn't very steep. It takes 45min but longer with kids. Alternatively you can also take a buggy which leaves every half an hour but only up to 5pm. Tickets can be purchased at the lodge. We went in late August and the ice wasn't so much but still Highly recommended. Also crazy to see how much the glacier has shrunk throughout the years. Global warming is real!

The glacier lies quite high but is visible from the road. A trail starts near the parking spot. Around 45 minutes to the postbox (?) and back, but there's nothing interesting to see, the view from the lake is better.

Very beautiful glacier close to the main road (if one can called be main - it took me extra 4 hours to get here on the way from Bergen to Lillehammer). Anyway, the views are totally spectacular. Despite the glacier appearing to be close to the car park it’s actually difficult to walk closer to it (and the weather was just dreadful the day I happened to be there). You can’t really see the glacier because the view will be instructed by the rocks, so don’t see a point of suffering to walk through the forest to get closer to it. The place is amazing.
