We ended our Amsterdam trip with this museum and so glad we did! It was interesting, bizarre, sometimes frightening (we went at night around an hour and a half before closing and there are quite a few motion-sensor exhibits) but an enjoyable experience overall. Perhaps the most enjoyable thing however has been reading the Google reviews...
The collection is quite good and interesting, but there are way too much people in there. If you try to read every description and look everything closely, the crowd makes it almost impossible. Otherwise I recommend to visit for everybody, it's a good quality and well managed collection, and also very cheap.
Really great museum with antiquities from different cultures. Old Marilyn Monroe displays too. Walked past on the way back to the main station. Open late. Great for a laugh as well. Full of tourists. The displays are funny. Old photographs and art depictions of older customs. Must check out the toilets they’re an orchid flower. Old footage on display. Ancient texts and old corsets on display. Roman age phallic stone pillars.
A very interesting place and quite easy to find. I learned a lot from the experience. And the price was really good. One setback, I would like to share: -There wasn't any guidance and I felt lost in the different rooms. It was hard to find clear information about the different topics and displayed objects.
Fantastic place to visit, definitely worth a look! Much more than we expected and for €5 it's a must! Would have liked to see a gift shop though.
